7 : 1
മകനേ, എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചു എന്റെ കല്പനകളെ നിന്റെ ഉള്ളിൽ സംഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊൾക.
My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.

7 : 2
നീ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ കല്പനകളെയും ഉപദേശത്തെയും നിന്റെ കണ്ണിന്റെ കൃഷ്ണമണിയെപ്പോലെ കാത്തുകൊൾക.
Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.

7 : 3
നിന്റെ വിരലിന്മേൽ അവയെ കെട്ടുക; ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ പലകയിൽ എഴുതുക.
Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

7 : 4
ജ്ഞാനത്തോടു: നീ എന്റെ സഹോദരി എന്നു പറക; വിവേകത്തിന്നു സഖി എന്നു പേർ വിളിക്ക.
Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:

7 : 5
അവ നിന്നെ പരസ്ത്രീയുടെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നും ചക്കരവാക്കു പറയുന്ന അന്യസ്ത്രീയുടെ വശത്തുനിന്നും കാക്കും.
That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.

7 : 6
ഞാൻ എന്റെ വീട്ടിന്റെ കിളിവാതിൽക്കൽ അഴിക്കിടയിൽകൂടി നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ
For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,

7 : 7
ഭോഷന്മാരുടെ ഇടയിൽ ഒരുത്തനെ കണ്ടു; യൌവനക്കാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ ബുദ്ധിഹീനനായോരു യുവാവിനെ കണ്ടറിഞ്ഞു.
And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,

7 : 8
അവൻ വൈകുന്നേരം, സന്ധ്യാസമയത്തു, ഇരുട്ടും അന്ധകാരവുമുള്ള ഒരു രാത്രിയിൽ,
Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,

7 : 9
അവളുടെ വീട്ടിന്റെ കോണിന്നരികെ വീഥിയിൽകൂടി കടന്നു, അവളുടെ വീട്ടിലേക്കുള്ള വഴിയെ നടന്നു ചെല്ലുന്നു.
In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:

7 : 10
പെട്ടെന്നു ഇതാ, വേശ്യാവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചും ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ഉപായം പൂണ്ടും ഉള്ളോരു സ്ത്രീ അവനെ എതിരേറ്റുവരുന്നു.
And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.

7 : 11
അവൾ മോഹപരവശയും തന്നിഷ്ടക്കാരത്തിയും ആകുന്നു; അവളുടെ കാൽ വീട്ടിൽ അടങ്ങിയിരിക്കയില്ല.
(She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:

7 : 12
ഇപ്പോൾ അവളെ വീഥിയിലും പിന്നെ വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തും കാണാം; ഓരോ കോണിലും അവൾ പതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)

7 : 13
അവൾ അവനെ പിടിച്ചു ചുംബിച്ചു, ലജ്ജകൂടാതെ അവനോടു പറയുന്നതു:
So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,

7 : 14
എനിക്കു സമാധാനയാഗങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഇന്നു ഞാൻ എന്റെ നേർച്ചകളെ കഴിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.

7 : 15
അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ നിന്നെ കാണ്മാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചു. നിന്നെ എതിരേല്പാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു നിന്നെ കണ്ടെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.

7 : 16
ഞാൻ എന്റെ കട്ടിലിന്മേൽ പരവതാനികളും മിസ്രയീമ്യനൂൽകൊണ്ടുള്ള വരിയൻ പടങ്ങളും വിരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.

7 : 17
മൂറും അകിലും ലവംഗവുംകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ എന്റെ മെത്ത സുഗന്ധമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.

7 : 18
വരിക; വെളുക്കുംവരെ നമുക്കു പ്രേമത്തിൽ രമിക്കാം; കാമവിലാസങ്ങളാൽ നമുക്കു സുഖിക്കാം.
Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.

7 : 19
പുരുഷൻ വീട്ടിൽ ഇല്ല; ദൂരയാത്ര പോയിരിക്കുന്നു;
For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey:

7 : 20
പണമടിശ്ശീല കൂടെ കൊണ്ടുപോയിട്ടുണ്ടു; പൌർണ്ണമാസിക്കേ വീട്ടിൽ വന്നെത്തുകയുള്ളു.
He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.

7 : 21
ഇങ്ങനെ ഏറിയോരു ഇമ്പവാക്കുകളാൽ അവൾ അവനെ വശീകരിച്ചു അധരമാധുര്യംകൊണ്ടു അവനെ നിർബ്ബന്ധിക്കുന്നു.
With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.

7 : 22
അറുക്കുന്നേടത്തേക്കു കാളയും ചങ്ങലയിലേക്കു ഭോഷനും പോകുന്നതുപോലെയും,
He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;

7 : 23
പക്ഷി ജീവഹാനിക്കുള്ളതെന്നറിയാതെ കണിയിലേക്കു ബദ്ധപ്പെടുന്നതുപോലെയും കരളിൽ അസ്ത്രം തറെക്കുവോളം അവൻ അവളുടെ പിന്നാലെ ചെല്ലുന്നു.
Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.

7 : 24
ആകയാൽ മക്കളേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾപ്പിൻ; എന്റെ വായിലെ വചനങ്ങളെ ശ്രദ്ധിപ്പിൻ.
Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.

7 : 25
നിന്റെ മനസ്സു അവളുടെ വഴിയിലേക്കു ചായരുതു; അവളുടെ പാതകളിലേക്കു നീ തെറ്റിച്ചെല്ലുകയുമരുതു.
Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.

7 : 26
അവൾ വീഴിച്ച ഹതന്മാർ അനേകർ; അവൾ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞവർ ആകെ വലിയോരു കൂട്ടം ആകുന്നു.
For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.

7 : 27
അവളുടെ വീടു പാതാളത്തിലേക്കുള്ള വഴിയാകുന്നു; അതു മരണത്തിന്റെ അറകളിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുന്നു.
Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.
