23 : 1
നീ അധിപതിയോടുകൂടെ ഭക്ഷണത്തിന്നു ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നവൻ ആരെന്നു കരുതിക്കൊൾക.
When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee:

23 : 2
നീ ഭോജനപ്രിയൻ ആകുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ നിന്റെ തൊണ്ടെക്കു ഒരു കത്തി വെച്ചുകൊൾക.
And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite.

23 : 3
അവന്റെ സ്വാദുഭോജനങ്ങളെ കൊതിക്കരുതു; അവ വഞ്ചിക്കുന്ന ഭോജനമല്ലോ.
Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat.

23 : 4
ധനവാനാകേണ്ടതിന്നു പണിപ്പെടരുതു; അതിന്നായുള്ള ബുദ്ധി വിട്ടുകളക.
Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.

23 : 5
നിന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടി ധനത്തിന്മേൽ പതിക്കുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? അതു ഇല്ലാതെയായ്പോകുമല്ലോ. കഴുകൻ ആകാശത്തേക്കു എന്നപോലെ അതു ചിറകെടുത്തു പറന്നുകളയും.
Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.

23 : 6
കണ്ണുകടിയുള്ളവന്റെ അപ്പം തിന്നരുതു; അവന്റെ സ്വാദുഭോജ്യങ്ങളെ ആഗ്രഹിക്കയുമരുതു.
Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats:

23 : 7
അവൻ തന്റെ മനസ്സിൽ കണക്കു കൂട്ടുന്നതുപോലെ ആകുന്നു; തിന്നു കുടിച്ചുകൊൾക എന്നു അവൻ നിന്നോടു പറയും; അവന്റെ ഹൃദയമോ നിനക്കു അനുകൂലമല്ല.
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.

23 : 8
നീ തിന്ന കഷണം ഛർദ്ദിച്ചുപോകും; നിന്റെ മാധുര്യവാക്കു നഷ്ടമായെന്നും വരും.
The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words.

23 : 9
ഭോഷൻ കേൾക്കെ നീ സംസാരിക്കരുതു; അവൻ നിന്റെ വാക്കുകളുടെ ജ്ഞാനത്തെ നിരസിച്ചുകളയും.
Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.

23 : 10
പണ്ടേയുള്ള അതിർ നീക്കരുതു; അനാഥന്മാരുടെ നിലം ആക്രമിക്കയുമരുതു.
Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless:

23 : 11
അവരുടെ പ്രതികാരകൻ ബലവാനല്ലോ; അവർക്കു നിന്നോടുള്ള വ്യവഹാരം അവൻ നടത്തും.
For their redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with thee.

23 : 12
നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം പ്രബോധനത്തിന്നും നിന്റെ ചെവി പരിജ്ഞാനവചനങ്ങൾക്കും സമർപ്പിക്ക.
Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.

23 : 13
ബാലന്നു ശിക്ഷ കൊടുക്കാതിരിക്കരുതു; വടികൊണ്ടു അടിച്ചാൽ അവൻ ചത്തുപോകയില്ല.
Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.

23 : 14
വടികൊണ്ടു അവനെ അടിക്കുന്നതിനാൽ നീ അവന്റെ പ്രാണനെ പാതാളത്തിൽനിന്നു വിടുവിക്കും.
Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.

23 : 15
മകനേ, നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം ജ്ഞാനത്തെ പഠിച്ചാൽ എന്റെ ഹൃദയവും സന്തോഷിക്കും.
My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.

23 : 16
നിന്റെ അധരം നേർ സംസാരിച്ചാൽ എന്റെ അന്തരംഗങ്ങൾ ആനന്ദിക്കും.
Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things.

23 : 17
നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം പാപികളോടു അസൂയപ്പെടരുതു; നീ എല്ലായ്പോഴും യഹോവഭക്തിയോടിരിക്ക.
Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long.

23 : 18
ഒരു പ്രതിഫലം ഉണ്ടാകും നിശ്ചയം; നിന്റെ പ്രത്യാശെക്കു ഭംഗം വരികയുമില്ല.
For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.

23 : 19
മകനേ, കേട്ടു ജ്ഞാനം പഠിക്ക; നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ നേർവഴിയിൽ നടത്തിക്കൊൾക.
Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way.

23 : 20
നീ വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കുന്നവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിലും മാംസഭോജനപ്രിയരുടെ ഇടയിലും ഇരിക്കരുതു.
Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh:

23 : 21
കുടിയനും അതിഭക്ഷകനും ദരിദ്രരായ്തീരും; നിദ്രാലുത്വം പഴന്തുണി ഉടുക്കുമാറാക്കും.
For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.

23 : 22
നിന്നെ ജനിപ്പിച്ച അപ്പന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾക്ക; നിന്റെ അമ്മ വൃദ്ധയായിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവളെ നിന്ദിക്കരുതു.
Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old.

23 : 23
നീ സത്യം വിൽക്കയല്ല വാങ്ങുയത്രേ വേണ്ടതു; ജ്ഞാനവും പ്രബോധനവും വിവേകവും അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ.
Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

23 : 24
നീതിമാന്റെ അപ്പൻ ഏറ്റവും ആനന്ദിക്കും; ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ ജനകൻ അവനിൽ സന്തോഷിക്കും.
The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.

23 : 25
നിന്റെ അമ്മയപ്പന്മാർ സന്തോഷിക്കട്ടെ; നിന്നെ പ്രസവിച്ചവൾ ആനന്ദിക്കട്ടെ.
Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice.

23 : 26
മകനേ, നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം എനിക്കു തരിക; എന്റെ വഴി നിന്റെ കണ്ണിന്നു ഇമ്പമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.
My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.

23 : 27
വേശ്യാസ്ത്രീ ആഴമുള്ള കുഴിയും പരസ്ത്രീ ഇടുക്കമുള്ള കിണറും ആകുന്നു.
For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit.

23 : 28
അവൾ പിടിച്ചുപറിക്കാരനെപ്പോലെ പതിയിരിക്കുന്നു; മനുഷ്യരിൽ ദ്രോഹികളെ വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
She also lieth in wait as for a prey, and increaseth the transgressors among men.

23 : 29
ആർക്കു കഷ്ടം, ആർക്കു സങ്കടം, ആർക്കു കലഹം? ആർക്കു ആവലാതി, ആർക്കു അനാവശ്യമായ മുറിവുകൾ, ആർക്കു കൺചുവപ്പു?
Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes?

23 : 30
വീഞ്ഞു കുടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു നേരം വൈകിക്കുന്നവർക്കും മദ്യം രുചിനോക്കുവാൻ പോകുന്നവർക്കും തന്നേ.
They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.

23 : 31
വീഞ്ഞു ചുവന്നു പാത്രത്തിൽ തിളങ്ങുന്നതും രസമായി ഇറക്കുന്നതും നീ നോക്കരുതു.
Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.

23 : 32
ഒടുക്കം അതു സർപ്പംപോലെ കടിക്കും; അണലിപോലെ കൊത്തും.
At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.

23 : 33
നിന്റെ കണ്ണു പരസ്ത്രീകളെ നോക്കും; നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം വക്രത പറയും.
Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.

23 : 34
നീ നടുക്കടലിൽ ശയിക്കുന്നവനെപ്പോലെയും പാമരത്തിന്റെ മുകളിൽ ഉറങ്ങുന്നവനെപ്പോലെയും ആകും.
Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.

23 : 35
അവർ എന്നെ അടിച്ചു എനിക്കു നൊന്തില്ല; അവർ എന്നെ തല്ലി, ഞാൻ അറിഞ്ഞതുമില്ല. ഞാൻ എപ്പോൾ ഉണരും? ഞാൻ ഇനിയും അതു തന്നേ തേടും എന്നു നീ പറയും.
They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.
