20 : 1
എന്നാൽ ബെന്യാമീന്യനായി ബിക്രിയുടെ മകനായ ശേബ എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു നീചൻ അവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവൻ കാഹളം ഊതി: ദാവീദിങ്കൽ നമുക്കു ഓഹരി ഇല്ല; യിശ്ശായിയുടെ മകങ്കൽ അവകാശവും ഇല്ല; യിസ്രായേലേ നിങ്ങൾ വീട്ടിലേക്കു പൊയ്ക്കൊൾവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And there happened to be there a man of Belial, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjamite: and he blew a trumpet, and said, We have no part in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to his tents, O Israel.

20 : 2
അപ്പോൾ യിസ്രായേൽ ഒക്കെയും ദാവീദിനെ വിട്ടു പിന്മാറി ബിക്രിയുടെ മകനായ ശേബയുടെ പക്ഷം ചേർന്നു; യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാരോ യോർദ്ദാൻ തുടങ്ങി യെരൂശലേംവരെ തങ്ങളുടെ രാജാവിനോടു ചേർന്നു നടന്നു.
So every man of Israel went up from after David, and followed Sheba the son of Bichri: but the men of Judah clave unto their king, from Jordan even to Jerusalem.

20 : 3
ദാവീദ് യെരൂശലേമിൽ അരമനയിൽ എത്തി; അരമന സൂക്ഷിപ്പാൻ പാർപ്പിച്ചിരുന്ന പത്തു വെപ്പാട്ടികളെയും രാജാവു അന്തഃപുരത്തിൽ ആക്കി രക്ഷിച്ചു എങ്കിലും അവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നില്ല. അങ്ങനെ അവർ ജീവപര്യന്തം കാവലിലിരുന്നു വൈധവ്യം ആചരിച്ചു.
And David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women his concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them in ward, and fed them, but went not in unto them. So they were shut up unto the day of their death, living in widowhood.

20 : 4
അനന്തരം രാജാവു അമാസയോടു: നീ മൂന്നു ദിവസത്തിന്നകം യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മരെ വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി അവരുമായി ഇവിടെ വരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Then said the king to Amasa, Assemble me the men of Judah within three days, and be thou here present.

20 : 5
അങ്ങനെ അമാസാ യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മരെ വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടുവാൻ പോയി; എന്നാൽ കല്പിച്ച അവധിയിലധികം അവൻ താമസിച്ചുപോയി.
So Amasa went to assemble the men of Judah: but he tarried longer than the set time which he had appointed him.

20 : 6
എന്നാറെ ദാവീദ് അബീശായിയോടു: അബ്ശാലോം ചെയ്തതിനെക്കാളും ബിക്രിയുടെ മകനായ ശേബ ഇപ്പോൾ നമുക്കു അധികം ദോഷം ചെയ്യും; അവൻ ഉറപ്പുള്ള വല്ല പട്ടണത്തിലും കടന്നു നമ്മുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽനിന്നു തെറ്റിപ്പോകാതാരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ നിന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ ചേവകരെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു അവനെ പിന്തുടരുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And David said to Abishai, Now shall Sheba the son of Bichri do us more harm than did Absalom: take thou thy lord's servants, and pursue after him, lest he get him fenced cities, and escape us.

20 : 7
അങ്ങനെ യോവാബിന്റെ ആളുകളും ക്രോത്യരും പ്ളേത്യരും സകലവീരന്മാരും ബിക്രിയുടെ മകനായ ശേബയെ പിന്തുടരുവാൻ യെരൂശലേമിൽ നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു.
And there went out after him Joab's men, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and all the mighty men: and they went out of Jerusalem, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.

20 : 8
അവർ ഗിബെയോനിലെ വലിയ പാറയുടെ അടുക്കൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ അമാസാ അവർക്കെതിരെ വന്നു. എന്നാൽ യോവാബ് ധരിച്ചിരുന്ന പടയങ്കിമേൽ ഒരു കച്ചയിൽ ഉറയോടുകൂടെ ഒരു വാൾ അരെക്കു കെട്ടിയിരിന്നു; അവൻ നടക്കുമ്പോൾ അതു വീണുപോയി.
When they were at the great stone which is in Gibeon, Amasa went before them. And Joab's garment that he had put on was girded unto him, and upon it a girdle with a sword fastened upon his loins in the sheath thereof; and as he went forth it fell out.

20 : 9
യോവാബ് അമാസയോടു: സഹോദരാ, സുഖം തന്നേയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അമാസയെ ചുംബനം ചെയ്‍വാൻ വലത്തുകൈകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ താടിക്കു പിടിച്ചു.
And Joab said to Amasa, Art thou in health, my brother? And Joab took Amasa by the beard with the right hand to kiss him.

20 : 10
എന്നാൽ യോവാബിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ വാൾ ഇരിക്കുന്നതു അമാസാ സൂക്ഷിച്ചില്ല; യോവാബ് അവനെ അതു കൊണ്ടു വയറ്റത്തു കുത്തി കുടൽ ചോർത്തിക്കളഞ്ഞു; രണ്ടാമതു കുത്തേണ്ടിവന്നില്ല; അവൻ മരിച്ചുപോയി. യോവാബും അവന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അബീശായിയും ബിക്രിയുടെ മകനായ ശേബയെ പിന്തുടർന്നു.
But Amasa took no heed to the sword that was in Joab's hand: so he smote him therewith in the fifth rib, and shed out his bowels to the ground, and struck him not again; and he died. So Joab and Abishai his brother pursued after Sheba the son of Bichri.

20 : 11
യോവാബിന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ അതിന്നരികെ നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു യോവാബിനോടു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളവനും ദാവീദിന്റെ പക്ഷക്കാരനും യോവാബിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെല്ലട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And one of Joab's men stood by him, and said, He that favoureth Joab, and he that is for David, let him go after Joab.

20 : 12
അമാസാ വഴിനടുവിൽ രക്തത്തിൽ മുഴുകി കിടന്നതുകൊണ്ടു ജനമൊക്കെയും നില്ക്കുന്നു എന്നു കണ്ടിട്ടു അവൻ അമാസയെ വഴിയിൽനിന്നു വയലിലേക്കു മാറ്റി; അവിടെ എത്തുന്നവനെല്ലാം നില്ക്കുന്നു എന്നു കാൺകകൊണ്ടു അവൻ ഒരു വസ്ത്രം അവന്റെമേൽ ഇട്ടു.
And Amasa wallowed in blood in the midst of the highway. And when the man saw that all the people stood still, he removed Amasa out of the highway into the field, and cast a cloth upon him, when he saw that every one that came by him stood still.

20 : 13
അവനെ പെരുവഴിയിൽനിന്നു മാറ്റിയശേഷം എല്ലാവരും ബിക്രിയുടെ മകനായ ശേബയെ പിന്തുടരുവാൻ യോവാബിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ പോയി.
When he was removed out of the highway, all the people went on after Joab, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.

20 : 14
എന്നാൽ ശേബ എല്ലായിസ്രായേൽഗോത്രങ്ങളിലും കൂടി കടന്നു ആബേലിലും ബേത്ത്-മാഖയിലും എല്ലാബേർയ്യരുടെ അടുക്കലും ചെന്നു; അവരും ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു.
And he went through all the tribes of Israel unto Abel, and to Bethmaachah, and all the Berites: and they were gathered together, and went also after him.

20 : 15
മറ്റവർ വന്നു ബേത്ത്-മാഖയോടു ചേർന്ന ആബേലിൽ അവനെ നിരോധിച്ചു പട്ടണത്തിന്നു നേരെ വാടകോരി; അതു കിടങ്ങിന്റെ വക്കത്തായിരുന്നു; യോവാബിനോടുകൂടെയുള്ള എല്ലാ പടജ്ജനവും മതിൽ തള്ളിയിടുവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം ഇടിച്ചുതുടങ്ങി.
And they came and besieged him in Abel of Bethmaachah, and they cast up a bank against the city, and it stood in the trench: and all the people that were with Joab battered the wall, to throw it down.

20 : 16
അപ്പോൾ ജ്ഞാനമുള്ള ഒരു സ്ത്രീ: കേൾപ്പിൻ, കേൾപ്പിൻ; ഞാൻ യോവാബിനോടു സംസാരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഇവിടെ അടുത്തുവരുവാൻ അവനോടു പറവിൻ എന്നു പട്ടണത്തിൽനിന്നു വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.
Then cried a wise woman out of the city, Hear, hear; say, I pray you, unto Joab, Come near hither, that I may speak with thee.

20 : 17
അവൻ അടുത്തുചെന്നപ്പോൾ: നീ യോവാബോ എന്നു ആ സ്ത്രീ ചോദിച്ചു. അതേ എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു. അവൾ അവനോടു: അടിയന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഞാൻ കേൾക്കാം എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.
And when he was come near unto her, the woman said, Art thou Joab? And he answered, I am he. Then she said unto him, Hear the words of thine handmaid. And he answered, I do hear.

20 : 18
എന്നാറെ അവൾ ആബേലിൽ ചെന്നുചോദിക്കേണം എന്നു പണ്ടൊക്കെ പറകയും അങ്ങനെ കാര്യം തീർക്കുകയും ചെയ്ക പതിവായിരുന്നു.
Then she spake, saying, They were wont to speak in old time, saying, They shall surely ask counsel at Abel: and so they ended the matter.

20 : 19
ഞാൻ യിസ്രായേലിൽ സമാധാനവും വിശ്വസ്തതയും ഉള്ളവരിൽ ഒരുത്തി ആകുന്നു; നീ യിസ്രായേലിൽ ഒരു പട്ടണത്തെയും ഒരു മാതാവിനെയും നശിപ്പിപ്പാൻ നോക്കുന്നു; നീ യഹോവയുടെ അവകാശം മുടിച്ചുകളയുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
I am one of them that are peaceable and faithful in Israel: thou seekest to destroy a city and a mother in Israel: why wilt thou swallow up the inheritance of the LORD?

20 : 20
അതിന്നു യോവാബ്: മുടിച്ചുകളകയോ നശിപ്പിക്കയോ ചെയ്‍വാൻ എനിക്കു ഒരിക്കലും സംഗതിയാകരുതേ.
And Joab answered and said, Far be it, far be it from me, that I should swallow up or destroy.

20 : 21
കാര്യം അങ്ങനെയല്ല; ബിക്രിയുടെ മകനായ ശേബ എന്നൊരു എഫ്രയീംമലനാട്ടുകാരൻ ദാവീദ്‍രാജാവിനോടു മത്സരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവനെ ഏല്പിച്ചുതന്നാൽ മാത്രം മതി; ഞാൻ പട്ടണത്തെ വിട്ടുപോകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. സ്ത്രീ യോവാബിനോടു: അവന്റെ തല മതിലിന്റെ മുകളിൽനിന്നു നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഇട്ടുതരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
The matter is not so: but a man of mount Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, hath lifted up his hand against the king, even against David: deliver him only, and I will depart from the city. And the woman said unto Joab, Behold, his head shall be thrown to thee over the wall.

20 : 22
അങ്ങനെ സ്ത്രീ ചെന്നു തന്റെ ജ്ഞാനത്താൽ സകലജനത്തെയും സമ്മതിപ്പിച്ചു; അവർ ബിക്രിയുടെ മകനായ ശേബയുടെ തല വെട്ടി യോവാബിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഇട്ടുകൊടുത്തു; അപ്പോൾ അവൻ കാഹളം ഊതി, എല്ലാവരും പട്ടണം വിട്ടു വീടുകളിലേക്കു പോയി. യോവാബ് യെരൂശലേമിൽ രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.
Then the woman went unto all the people in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri, and cast it out to Joab. And he blew a trumpet, and they retired from the city, every man to his tent. And Joab returned to Jerusalem unto the king.

20 : 23
യോവാബ് യിസ്രായേൽസൈന്യത്തിന്നൊക്കെയും അധിപതി ആയിരുന്നു; യെഹോയാദായുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവു ക്രേത്യരുടെയും പ്ളേത്യരുടെയും നായകൻ ആയിരുന്നു.
Now Joab was over all the host of Israel: and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and over the Pelethites:

20 : 24
അദോരാം ഊഴിയവേലക്കാർക്കു മേൽ വിചാരകൻ; അഹിലൂദിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് മന്ത്രി;
And Adoram was over the tribute: and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder:

20 : 25
ശെവാ രായസക്കാരൻ; സാദോക്കും അബ്യാഥാരും പുരോഹിതന്മാർ.
And Sheva was scribe: and Zadok and Abiathar were the priests:

20 : 26
യായീർയ്യനായ ഈരയും ദാവീദിന്റെ പുരോഹിതൻ ആയിരുന്നു.
And Ira also the Jairite was a chief ruler about David.
